Remarkable Comeback In the 2013 Season

Burlington, NC: After a slow season start, Escalera turned into a hitting and defensive machine during the second half of the Appalachian League 2013 season. Escalera ended his season as the Burlington Royals’ leader in hits, doubles and batting average among the player with more than 150 at bats, and made the Top 20 Appalachian League’s batting average list.

The Obama Administration only awarded eight, out of more than 45,000 UNICEF’s volunteers, during the 2013 National Volunteer’s Week

San Juan- The Kansas City Royals minor league player Alfredo Escalera, was awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award as announced officially by UNICEF.  The President’s Volunteer Service Award was originally established in 1974 and ordinarily the awardees are announced as part of the happenings during the National Volunteer Week scheduled for the last week of April each year.
